When to Sow Cowslip Seeds

In a tray, on the surface of good quality compost (without sand). Cover with glass until germination takes place. Germination may be slow, so be patient! To encourage the seed to break dormancy, it may be frozen and thawed several times by placing in the refrigerator before sowing.

Transplant seedlings into pots and grow on until large enough to plant out in final growing positions.
