When to Sow Buttercream Marigold Seeds
Sow February to April. Plant out in May.
Flowers
June onwards.
Where to Sow
Sow on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or in a warm place and keep at a temperature between 21-25°C. Do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 7-21 days.
What to do Next
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12″) apart in well drained soil in full sun.
Handy Tip
Regular dead heading will prolong the flowering period.
