Penstemon ‘Garnet’

£12.00

Garnet is a beautiful penstemon producing pinkish red tubular flowers with a white striped throat all summer.

Penstemon ‘Garnet’ is a particularly elegant penstemon, bearing slender, foxglove-like flowers in wine-red, from July to October, against fresh green leaves. Like most penstemons, it’s perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border or in pot on the patio, and its blooms are a magnet for bumblebees.

Grow Penstemon ‘Garnet’ in full sun to partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil. In colder regions, you may need to offer protection in winter – apply a thick mulch of well-rotted manure or compost in autumn to protect the roots. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and divide congested clumps in spring.

Height 1m Spread 0.5m.

Supplied as a professional size plant in a 2L pot, all plants are health checked before sending with a Scottish plant passport. Depending on when in the season you buy, they may be getting ready to flower, in flower, or have passed flowering. If bought in winter the foliage may be dying back, but the plants will re-grow the following season.
Ensure the plant is watered in, and regularly after initial planting until new growth is seen which generally indicates the plant has started to root into the new position.

Please feel free to contact Borringtons prior to buying with any questions about your prospective purchase.
