Description
The longest flowering of all astrantia and a cottage garden favourite which is equally at home in modern garden designs. Astrantia major ‘Pink Pride’ is adored by pollinators and the charming, dainty pink blooms stand proudly atop strong wiry stems up to 60cm tall from June through to August. Known as the pincushion flower, or Hattie’s Pincushion, astrantia prefer moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. They are easy going plants which require little maintenance – simply deadhead as flowers fade to encourage the possibility of second flush of blooms later in the season.Plant Astrantia major’ Pink Pride in the centre to front of a border or at the edge of a pathway where the intricate blooms can be seen and fully appreciated. Blooms also make the perfect inclusion in a vase or bouquet.A fully hardy perennial, with an RHS rating of H7, Astrantia major ‘Pink Pride’ will thrive outside all year round with no extra winter protection required.
Supplied as a professional size plant in a 2L pot, all plants are health checked before sending with a Scottish plant passport. Depending on when in the season you buy, they may be getting ready to flower, in flower, or have passed flowering. If bought in winter the foliage may be dying back, but the plants will re-grow the following season.
Ensure the plant is watered in, and regularly after initial planting until new growth is seen which generally indicates the plant has started to root into the new position.
Please feel free to contact Borringtons prior to buying with any questions about your prospective purchase.
