Additional Details
When to Sow Albion Black Pod Nigella Seeds
Sow March to May.
Flowers
June to August
Where to Sow
Sow in shallow rows about 1.5cm (¾”) deep. Also, can be broadcast over wide area and raked in. Alternatively, sow 1-2 seeds per modular tray under glass, and once large enough, plant out in borders.
Please note: Young small seedlings do not like to be transplanted, but modules with established roots will be fine to move to final position.
What to do Next
Thin out direct sown seedlings as they grow to final spacing of 15- 30cm (6-12″) apart.
Handy Tip
Cut stems of seed pods before the seed heads fully open, causing the seeds to drop. Hang the cut stems upside down in a cool, dark, airy, dry place. Once fully dry (typically after a couple of weeks) they can be used in wreaths or dried flower arrangements.
